We noticed that our dog tends to get along really well with certain dogs and tends to be more reactive with others. We decided to document her interaction with other dogs at the off-leash park, to determine if there was a pattern in her behaviour in terms of what size or type of dog she meets.
We initially thought she was more reactive towards submissive dogs. However, our data collected didn't support that theory at all. What we did learn though was that for her, a raised hackles was often associated with a positive sense of excitement when she meets a dog she wants to play with.
